A Year Anointed: 2026

While the world watches the clock strike midnight with fireworks and festivities, for the follower of Christ, January 1st is more than a change of dates. It is a moment of consecration. In the Church calendar, we are currently in the Octave of Christmas—the eight-day celebration of the Incarnation—leading us toward Epiphany, the manifestation of Christ to the world.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

— 2 Corinthians 5:17

What are we focusing on this season?

In the liturgical cycle, this season is known as the Season of Light. As we move from the manger toward the arrival of the Magi (Epiphany), our focus shifts from receiving the Light to reflecting it.

  • The Name of Jesus: Traditionally, Jan 1st marks the Feast of the Holy Name. We start our year by declaring His authority over our schedules, our families, and our fears.
  • Spiritual Stewardship: Instead of "resolutions" that fade by February, we seek Holy Intentions. We ask: "Lord, how can I use the 525,600 minutes of 2026 to serve Your Kingdom?"

Setting Your 2026 Intentions

Rather than worldly goals, consider these three spiritual anchors for the year ahead:

1. Numbering Our Days: "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." (Psalm 90:12). Intentionality in prayer and rest.
2. Rootedness: Committing to a deeper study of the Word so that our "roots grow down into Him." (Colossians 2:7).
3. Radical Kindness: Being the "Light of the World" in a year that often feels dark or divided.
