Louise Hay - Healing & Legacy

Louise Hay

Honouring her Healing Work & Legacy with the LGBTIQ+ Community

Louise Lynn Hay (1926–2017) was an American motivational author, professional speaker, and AIDS advocate. She authored the bestselling You Can Heal Your Life and founded Hay House publishing.

During the height of the AIDS crisis in the 1980s, Louise became a crucial source of support for the LGBTQ+ community. She opened her home to people with AIDS, creating a support group called "The Hayride", providing a safe and loving space for those ostracized by society.

Her philosophy, founded in affirmations and self-love, taught that thoughts and emotional states influence physical health. Despite controversy, her compassion and belief in inner strength offered immense comfort. Louise was also a survivor of sexual abuse and cancer, which deepened her empathy and passion for healing.

She studied the Science of Mind at First Church of Religious Science NYC and became an ordained New Thought Minister. Beyond that, she embraced many healing modalities including Reiki, tapping, and transcendental meditation, during Covid I studied at this centre with Dr Greg Harte and studied her work.

Louise's ministry touched people worldwide, advocating unconditional love and acceptance. She was often called the "Queen of New Age" for her spiritual teachings and healing work, she had a knowledge of the bible and believed the church was in the world not in a building.

My Personal Testament:
Louise’s book truly saved my life. I carried a heavy burden of shame about my sexuality, and at that time, turning to the Bible felt impossible due to painful, judgmental experiences I had with some Christians in the past. Her teachings on self-love opened the doorway to healing for me, which eventually inspired me to explore theology and study the Scriptures with a renewed heart.

I created this page to honor her incredible work and to express my deepest gratitude. I hope one day she is recognized as a patron saint of healing. Thank you, Louise, my angel.

With love, Shane
