International Day to End Conversion Therapy

International Day to End Conversion Therapy

January 7 • #IDECT

Happy New Year to our readers.

Today, January 7, marks a solemn but vital observance in our calendar: the International Day to End Conversion Therapy (#IDECT). This is a day dedicated to acknowledgement, truth-telling, and visibility.

This day exists because harm that should never have happened, did happen—and in many parts of the world, still does. It is a day to stand in solidarity with those who were told they were broken when, in truth, they never were.

"Behind the slogans and statistics are real people whose lives were shaped by practices that promised change but delivered shame, fear, and lasting trauma."

Why This Matters

At Ambassadors & Bridge Builders International (ABBI), the conversation around conversion practices isn't abstract. It is spoken from deep lived experience, amplified by survivor voices, and backed by decades of advocacy.

Protecting future generations from harm requires us to value dignity and evidence-based care over fear. The work to end these practices is far from finished, but understanding the stories of survivors is the first step toward healing.

Support the Work

Every view and every conversation represents someone seeking understanding. The impact of advocacy is only possible because of people who believe in the work of organizations like ABBI.

If you believe in creating a world free from the damage of conversion practices, we encourage you to read more about the history and the future of this advocacy.
