The Ultimate Token of Affection
FEBRUARY 26, 2026
""This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.""
— 1 John 4:9In 1 John 4:9, we find a profound declaration of God's love that transcends time and circumstance: 'This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.' These words encapsulate the essence of our faith—the sacrificial love of Jesus, which is the cornerstone of our relationship with God.
Let's meditate on the depths of this love. God didn't just announce His love; He demonstrated it in the most tangible way possible by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to us. This act was not for a select few but for all of humanity. In a world often filled with sorrow and pain, this message is revolutionary: we do not have to navigate life alone; our Savior is with us, breathing purpose and life into our existence.
To 'live through him' means that our very existence is intertwined with His. It signifies that the source of our strength, hope, and joy is rooted in Christ. We are not just recipients of love but participants in a divine life that God has envisioned for us. This life is characterized by grace, mercy, and the transformative power of His Spirit. In every challenge we face, we can remember that His love empowers us to rise above and to embrace the fullness of life.
Moreover, as we reflect on His love, we are called to extend this gift to others. Our lives should mirror this divine love, encouraging those around us to encounter the light of Christ. The world desperately needs love, and we are His chosen vessels to carry that love forward, demonstrating it through our actions, words, and even our thoughts.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible gift of Your Son, Jesus, who embodies Your love. Help me to understand the depth of this love and to live it out daily. May Your love flow through me, touching the lives of those around me. Teach me to be a vessel of hope, grace, and compassion in a world that so desperately needs it. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
