St. Anskar (801–865) was a missionary who played a key role in the Christianization of Denmark and Sweden. He was appointed the first Archbishop of Hamburg in 831, and he devoted his life to spreading the Gospel in the northern regions of Europe. St. Anskar faced many challenges and setbacks in his mission work, but he never wavered in his faith and commitment to Christ. He is remembered as a great evangelist and is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church.
