Finding Stillness in the Storm

As we settle into the rhythm of February in Australia, the initial rush of the new year can often bring a sense of anxiety. This Sunday, we pause to breathe and turn our collective worries into a conversation with God.
The Call to Prayer

Holy God, sometimes our lives are so full of worries that we forget how you look after us through every aspect of our lives. When our worries begin to spiral out of control, help us turn them into a conversation with you, confident that you will calm our anxiety and give us hope for the future.

(Short Silence) Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.
For the Church

Gracious God, we pray for your church across this vast land and for the faith communities right here in our local neighbourhood. We ask for a growing desire to gather in unity. We give thanks for those finding fresh ways to make your name known, and we pray for our Bishops and local leaders as they navigate the everyday running of our churches.

(Short Silence) Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.
For the World & Creation

Creator God, thank you for this ancient land. Help us to be mindful that we are all created equal in your sight. Guide us to be good stewards of your creation—living responsibly in our lands and seas—ensuring that growth is sustainable and abundance is shared fairly for the good of all.

(Short Silence) Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.
For the Hurting

Loving God, we pray for all who bear the burdens of pain, bereavement, and depression—especially those whose illness stems from anxiety. May they feel your presence bearing these burdens with them, working always toward healing and wholeness.

For the Departed

Merciful God, through your love you turn the darkness of death into the dawn of new life. Comfort those who grieve and reassure them that you will never leave them to carry the burdens of life unaided.

Everlasting God, lead us into the coming week. Help us to believe that you are close by, keep us from stumbling, and help us never to disappoint you through our words and actions.

Merciful father: accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Reflection for the Week

Whether you're commuting on the M1, catching a train in the city, or enjoying a quiet morning in the backyard, remember: You aren't carrying the load alone.
