Chapel Gallery / Hire
The charming and historical architecture of St. Margaret's Chapel has been exquisitely restored, and it is situated amidst stunning gardens and a river, creating a tranquil and peaceful ambiance for worship. The chapel has a 146-year history, originally constructed as 'St. Margaret's Church of England in Nerang Street, Nerang' in 1877. As the population grew, the Church sold the iconic church building in 1992 and relocated it to the Evandale grounds of Gold Coast City Council. Following a meticulous restoration process, the chapel has been transformed into a non-denominational sanctuary situated within the Home of the Arts Cultural Precinct. Referred to as the "mothership" of Gold Coast churches, it stands as a symbol of reverence and community.
St Margaret, the patron saint of the church, was born in Hungary in 1045 and was brought to Scotland by her father. She eventually became the queen of King Malcolm III and devoted her life to spiritual growth and helping the less fortunate. She was greatly respected by the Scottish people and declared the patroness of Scotland in 1673.
Prayer of St Margaret:
Dear God, may we be inspired by St Margaret's compassion and generosity towards the poor. Through her intercession, may we also reflect your kindness and show generosity towards others.
