As we reflect on the life and reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we remember not only a monarch, but a symbol of steadfastness, patience, and dignity through decades of change and challenge. Her presence was a constant in a world of uncertainty, and her example continues to inspire.

Throughout her seventy years on the throne, the Queen faced storms both public and private. Yet, she met each with composure and grace, never allowing the tempests of the moment to shake her sense of duty or her commitment to her people. Her calm in the face of adversity became a hallmark of her reign.

The Queen’s patience was not passive, but active—a quiet strength that brought reassurance to millions. She listened more than she spoke, and when she did speak, her words were measured, thoughtful, and kind. In a world often marked by haste and harshness, her example of courtesy and restraint stands out all the more.

Sometimes, as a journalist, I find it all too easy to be quick to type and slow to pray. The great thing about having mentors is that they can guide you back to what matters most. I wanted to share this reflection because, like our late Queen, we all need reminders to pause, to listen, and to seek wisdom before we act.

As Supreme Governor of the Church of England, she embodied the Christian virtues of humility, service, and forgiveness. Her faith was a guiding light, and her Christmas messages often reminded us of the power of hope, reconciliation, and love.

In the words of Saint James: “Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger” (James 1:19). The Queen lived these words, and in doing so, earned the respect and affection of people across the world, even among those who disagreed with her or the institution she represented.

As we remember our late Queen, may we strive to follow her example—meeting life’s challenges with patience, dignity, and grace. Her legacy endures not only in history books, but in the hearts of all who value courtesy, calm, and quiet strength.
