Every Conversation Matters: Today is National Survivors Day
Every Conversation Matters: Today is National Survivors Day 💛
Today, we recognise and commemorate the incredible courage and strength of survivors. We often like to share our voice, but today we also want to start a conversation. Every conversation and every ribbon matters.
Wednesday, 12 November marks National Survivors Day, a day dedicated to recognising and honouring the courage and resilience of survivors of sexual assault and institutional abuse, as well as their supporters and whistleblowers across Australia.
The Aims of Today
This day is about more than just awareness; it's about acknowledgement, support, and driving real change. The aim is to:
- Acknowledge the profound harm caused to survivors and the community by sexual assault and institutional abuse.
- Support efforts toward destigmatisation and public recognition of the work undertaken by survivors and advocates.
- Work to improve responses to survivors and all those impacted by sexual assault and institutional abuse.
A Message from Our Friends
We are grateful for the vital work of our friends on the Gold Coast, Evolve Legal. They stand with survivors every day, and their message today is one we hold very close to our hearts:
"In our work assisting clients with institutional abuse claims, today is a day we hold very close to our hearts. We are proud to wear yellow ribbons to remind and educate people about recognising and starting conversations around abuse."
