Journal note to future self — 9 November 2025

Today, I turned 43.

This last year wasn't an easy one. It was a profound, challenging cycle, but today, I feel it is finally complete. It was a cycle of shedding the past, of learning to let go, and of closing the door, firmly and forever, to toxic family and people.

I made the difficult and painful decision to cut off my family bloodline (If you read my latest book you will understand). It was a decision born from necessity, from a deep need to protect my spirit and my future. In many ways, I feel like God saw the family I was born into and the pain I've been through, not just in the distant past but especially of late.

And in His infinite wisdom, He sent me strangers. He sent new faces who have become my family in every way that matters. My family is my church. Because of them, today was the best birthday I have ever had. My heart is overflowing with gratitude for the love they've shown me.

I'm so thankful to God for closing those doors to the past, for giving me the strength to walk away, and for allowing me to move forward into a new life as His chosen one. More than anything, I am thankful for the gift of peace—something I have been praying for most of all.

As I look forward to this next chapter, I feel like I'm standing before a beautiful, blank canvas. I'm excited to see what we paint next.

Thank you for reading and sharing this journey with me. If my story resonates with you, I hope you'll also check out my new book.

Love & Blessings, Shane
