Yesterday evening, the community gathered for the glittering Pancake Pride 2026 extravaganza at Metropolitan Community Church Sydney (MCC Sydney) in Petersham. This ecumenical soirée brought together a vibrant tapestry of LGBTIQA+ Christians and allies from across Sydney to celebrate faith with a side of flair.

📖 Word from the Word

Pastor Alex Pittaway, Minister of Neutral Bay Uniting Church and former MCC minister, delivered a powerful message on the Beatitudes. He reminded us that while queer folk often struggle with faith, the Beatitudes serve as a compass pointing us toward heaven. As Christians, our sacred duty is to point others toward that heavenly grace, ensuring that no one falls short of the gift of God.

The atmosphere was one of radical inclusion and sacred joy. Multi-denominational leaders joined forces to affirm the holiness and wholeness of our queer community, creating a space where every person was celebrated as a divine masterpiece. It wasn't just a meeting; it was a witness to the power of affirming faith.

🤝 Community & Connection

It was a wonderful opportunity to recharge and reconnect with fellow travelers on this journey. I had the pleasure of catching up with Benjamin Oh from Equal Voices, Anthony Venn-Brown OAM from ABBI, and Abigail from MCC Sydney. As a former leader of an MCC spiritual community myself, spending time with these dedicated advocates was the perfect way to replenish my energy and spirit.

A special thanks also goes to our wonderful host, Rev. Geoff Ivers, for his warm hospitality and for facilitating such a meaningful gathering.
